Riley Creek (Mile 0.4)
Open year round, but reservations are only required from
May 15 – September 20.
Riley Creek is located immediately on the left side of the road as you enter the Park from the Parks Highway. 147 sites for both RV’s and tents are nestled amongst the spruce trees and along Riley Creek, close by the Riley Creek Mercantile, Wilderness Access Center and the Denali Visitor Campus and trails making it the most accessible campground to park amenities. Trails and the Riley Creek Shuttle make getting around easy if you don’t have a car or if you don’t want to drive.

Savage River (Mile 13)
Open during the summer season only – May 19 through September 20, 2009.
Located 13 miles in from the Parks Highway, Savage River Campground is smaller in size and more remote. 33 sites for tents and RV’s provide easy access to great hiking and views of the Outer and Alaska Ranges - including Denali when it is visible. Shuttle buses into the park can be reserved to pick you up at the campground, saving you a trip back to the Wilderness Access Center. As this campground is more remote – make sure you have everything you need with you to enjoy your stay. Water availability is weather dependent.

Teklanika Campground (Mile 29)
Open May 20 – September 20, 2009.
Located beyond the Savage River, Teklanika Campground provides a unique park experience for those wanting more time in the park, and a truly remote camping experience amongst the backdrop of Cathedral Mountain and the Teklanika River. There is a minimum 3 night stay for anyone wishing to drive their RV or private vehicle to this campground.

Tent sites are also accessible by VTS shuttle bus. Once parked at your site – all travel must be on foot or shuttle bus until you depart so be sure to bring everything you need to make your stay an enjoyable one. Teklanika Bus Passes are available for you to make the most of your time.

Teklanika Pass Information
The Teklanika Pass (TEK Pass) is specially designed for visitors who are staying at the Teklanika Campground with a vehicle. It is recommended that all Teklanika Campground visitors purchase a TEK Pass to enable further access to the park during their stay as once your vehicle is parked, it may not be moved until you are headed back to the Park Entrance Area. Visitors with a TEK Pass are free to board any green bus with available seats.

The cost is $30.50 and is available when you make your advance reservation, or at the Wilderness Access Center or Riley Creek Mercantile inside the park. When you make a reservation, you will be required to confirm a seat on the first bus you will use on your pass. Sanctuary Campground (Mile 23)
Open May 20 - September 16, 2009
Tucked away off the road, this small campground is available to tent campers and is accessible by bus or on foot only. Advance reservations are not available. Campers can only book a site two days in advance in person at the Wilderness Access Center or Riley Creek Mercantile.

Wonder Lake Campground (Mile 85)
Open June 8 – September 16, 2009
The furthest campground from the park entrance, Wonder Lake is only available to tent campers and is accessible by Camper Bus (part of the shuttle bus system). When the weather is clear, wake up to the incredible views of Denali and the Alaska Range in their full splendor. The mosquitoes and other biting flies can be quite thick from mid-June until late August so come prepared.

Igloo Campground

Igloo Campground (Igloo) is a 5-site campground located at Mile 35 on the Park Road. There is a chemical toilet available; no potable water, hook-ups or other amenities. All sites at Igloo are walk-in only.

Igloo is open from late May through early September, weather dependent.

Fee: $9 per night plus a one-time reservation fee of $5.

Reservations for Igloo can only be made on a walk-in basis at the Wilderness Access Center, within two (2) days of desired nights at this campground.

General Information

• Riley Creek, Savage River, Teklanika and Wonder Lake are available by advanced reservation starting December 1st, 2008
• All campers are required to check in at the Riley Creek Mercantile or Wilderness Access Center before going into campgrounds to obtain the appropriate campground permit and/or road pass.
• All campground dates are subject to change depending on weather and accessibility.
• Sanctuary Campground is only available two days prior and from the Wilderness Access Center reservations desk. Wilderness Access Center reservations desk or Riley Creek Mercantile.
• There is a 14 night maximum at one or combination of campgrounds inside Denali National Park and Preserve in a calendar year.
• There are no campsites with hook-ups inside Denali National Park
• Campers with a Golden Age, Golden Access Passport, or Senior or Access Federal Recreation Lands Pass are eligible for 50% off of the daily campground rate. Enter Pass information on the same reservation with the Park Entrance Fee.  Be prepared to show your pass and a photo ID at time of check-in.
• All commercial use of Denali National Park is restricted to Savage Campground Group sites. Sites are limited and subject to NPS authorization. For information about these sites please call 907-683-2294 prior to making a reservation. For reservations call 1-800-622-7275.
• Late arrival Teklanika campers can check in at the Riley Creek Mercantile up until 11pm during peak season.
  

To purchase campground permits

• Permits can be purchased after December 1st, 2008. 
• Please ensure you have read all of the above general information before booking and know the exact length of your RV. Please do not book a site for something larger than you need. There are a limited number of longer sites and we would like to be able to accommodate everyone.
• While fire pits are available at most campground, firewood is not. You must bring your own wood with you from outside the park. It is available at many convenience and grocery stores and can also be purchased at the Riley Creek Mercantile. It is legal to take downed wood around the campground to use at campsites, but this is in very scarce supply so if you truly desire a campfire please pack in your own wood.
• If you are purchasing only a campground reservation and do not plan to use the bus – please be sure to also purchase a park entrance fee.
• Many campgrounds fill up fast, so if your dates of travel are not flexible – make sure to reserve your site early!

Change / Cancel Fees

Campgrounds
There is a $4.00 fee per ticket and per campsite to change or cancel a reservation. You may change or cancel the reservation for shuttle buses as long as it is done at least twenty-four (24) hours prior to the departure time, either by calling 800-622-7275 or (907) 683-9206 or visiting the Wilderness Access Center (WAC). Cancellations for campgrounds are allowed as long as it is done before 11AM the day before check in at the Riley Creek Mercantile.
